Where the exotic centuries-old recipes meet with local ingredients to transform into unforgettable flavors that will make you come back for more. Owner and executive chef Emrah Kilicoglu pays close attention to what goes in the kitchen as well as on the restaurant floor. He personally visits each table to make sure that the customers get the ultimate Turkish dining experience where the customer is treated as a guest in his house. Mr. Kilicoglu is not new to the San Francisco gastronomic scene: since March, 2012 he was the co-owner of Troya Clement and contributed to it becoming a staple among Turkish restaurants in the Bay Area. He carefully crafted Kitchen Istanbul's menu to incorporate lots of traditional mezes (Turkish style appetizers), each with a distinct kick to represent a specific region in the Mediterranean area. Just a look at the main dishes will make your mouth water, no matter if you are a meat lover or a veggie lover. The desert menu has a life on its own spanning a wide variety from Turkish classics including Kunefe to French counterparts including Pot de Creme, both recipes dating back to 1700s. Kitchen Istanbul has a welcoming, cozy atmosphere where you can leisurely enjoy your wine while sampling delectable food that is guaranteed to be prepared with the care and love prescribed by the long history of the recipes.

I celebrated my PhD today in this gorgeous place. I am glad to say that it was a tremendous evening and the restaurant was no doubt the reason for the outstanding meeting. The crew participated in a graceful way, the cooking was great and my buddies were very joyful. We shall no dout return for more events. Thank you very much.

So we were able to walk in and get a table on a Friday night. So it was cool to get seated last minute. Appreciate their help there. Everything was very well prepared and very tasty. However the pricing was rather high for what we got. Draft beers were $9.50 each. For my entree I got a lamb kabob plate with some rice that had really good and tasty. However it was just two moderate sized kebabs with some rice for $30. Rather expensive. So a bit costly for the Richmond.

Nice location for quality turkish food. I wanted to post a food pic but it looked so good I couldn't stop. Certainly worth going back to.

Came here with another couple (they raved about this place) and it didn't disappoint. The BYOB policy is fab. Every dish was super fresh and delicious, clearly everything is made in-house. Prices are cheap. It's a small restaurant, so at busy times, you might have to wait. It's definitely worth it!

Great selection of authentic Turkish food with a twist. Portions are on the small side though

So amazing Turkish dishes and tasty food. You can go there if you like to host someone who like to eat a luxury lunch or dinner. Also, the dessert is so pretty. Unfortunately there is one negative point that is this restaurant sorta costly like $100 for three people.

Not a bad restaurant, friendly staff and good ambience. Being Turkish the taste wasn't up to my standard and food quality was average.

Great food, they were fully booked when we visited so they offered us to dine in the outside seating( which was not that comfortable and cold) however the food was extremely good and mouth watering, I'm not sure if the quantities were small or good since we were still hungry at the end or maybe it was too good ... abit overpriced however will definitely come by again

Amazing food. We order the lentil soup as well with the hummus. All dishes were amazing. The lentil salad by far was the best. The dressing is out of this world

Great little mediterranean cafe.Everything I've tasted on the menu is delicious. Some highlights include the Turkish meatball wrap and the Lamb Kebabs - perfectly cooked (tender) and seasoned. The appetizers are also good - I like the cheese sticks with Honey/Pistachio. And don't forget to try the Turkish Coffee while you're there!

We had the diner kebab and hunker begendi, and both were delicious. The service was super fast; the prices are very reasonable; and it's BYOB!

Kitchen Istanbul is among the best restaurants in the Bay Area, if not the best, to enjoy authentic yet unique interpretations of Turkish, Mediterranean, and Levant food. Start with the trio of dips, enjoy the delicacy of vegetable-based mezes; cauliflower and zucchini cakes (mucver) are a must have!; proceed with a selection of entrees - we tried the amazing chicken and lamb skewers, and conclude with a baklava! And leave with a happy smile! What matters the most: they have an amazing team!

Great attention to detail, delicious food, very attentive service. Highly recommend the arugula salad, zucchini fritters, feta cheese cigars, haydari dip, braised beef with smoked eggplants. And as for desserts, the kunefe, baklava, and kazandibi.
Sukhada Rahalkar
Loved the roasted cauliflower and lentil salad!

Fantastic food and staff. With so many great restaurant options on Clement, this charming spot stands out. It was my first time in and I was greeted by friendly servers. I ordered the lentil soup, lamb chops medium rare, baklava, and Turkish coffee. Everything was well prepared and presented. Additionally, when tourists entered, who had their bags recently stolen from their car, the host / owner gave three young girls free dessert while their mom spoke to police outside. Such kind and genuine human beings. I highly recommend eating here.

We ordered takeout from here this evening and it was without a doubt the best money I’ve spent on takeout in the last month. Absolutely delicious! and the order was ready right when they said it would be. Highly recommend the kebabs and the halloumi!

One of the best Turkish restaurant in the city! Wonderful service too. Everything tasted great; chicken Adana and the sautéed chicken were perfect. You can't go wrong with the app artiste platter. Generous servings. And really, I've rarely seen such friendly staff.
Julie Padilla
Outstanding spot for tasty turkish food. i should have took a photo of the food but it was too good to interrupt. quick, helpful, and friendly service. prices are reasonable.

The waitress are the best in San Francisco. The food was amazing. Everything we ate was full of flavor, sweet, savory, and a range of textures. You must try the cauliflower, the cheese frits, and the well every appetizer.
David Stobb
Tasty, well seasoned food in a refined setting.
Venkat Melkote
This place is great, they gave us seated by the large windows. Food was great, got to try out their mezzes, Lentil soup as well as the Kebobs. They have a good number of wine selections and few of those by the glass. Our waiter was knowledgeable to provide recommendations on wine and it was great. Given it was Valentine's day, the desert wines were on the house which was neat. Would love to go back and try out more dishes.

Nice environment and very friendly service. The food was crisp and delicious. Will surely recommend this spot to anyone. Convenient prices and generous portions. Keep it up.
Linda Grigorik
I especially liked the moussaka! It was super tasty! The service is good except they close kind of early. Maybe cause I was there on a Wednesday. By 9:30, they were already wrapping up for the night. I wouldn't mind get another drink or two with my friend. Overall, good experience.
Paisley Hernandez
A preferred scene for delicious turkish food. There was quick, helpful, and friendly service.

Wow, how have I not reviewed this place? I *really* like Kitchen Istanbul. I feel sorry for those poor people waiting in line for over an hour at Burma Superstar, when they could be having incredible food right here, two doors down. Granted, they're totally different cuisines and Kitchen Istanbul is a bit more upscale, but this place doesn't waste your time and the staff treats you extremely well and you get to experience a fabulous meal. The crispy spiced brussels sprouts are the best I have had anywhere in the city, bar none. GET THEM. The meatballs and lamb moussaka are also delicious and well worth ordering. The zucchini fritters were incredibly good. To top it off, their wine list is excellent, with unusual selections from places you don't normally see, like Turkey, Lebanon, and Greece. A winning combination!

The staff was great, the food was amazing, we will definitely return. Quick service, friendly, paid attention, and the food was succulent. The food was so good that I went in with the intention of capturing everything we experienced, we both ended up forgetting about our phones.
Bora Plaku
Just ok. The food could be better seasoned. Also, it's a bit overpriced.
Jacob Proctor
The menu and service were beyond my expectations. I surely enjoyed the ambience of this spot. Great spot to take the family out for dinner.

Great dining experience. Outstanding food and a wonderful wine list. My wife is coeliac (allergic to gluten) and they were very knowledgeable and happy to help. Most of the dishes were already gluten free or they could had been modified a bit. One of our best dining experiences in SF so far, will make sure to repeat as soon as we are back here!
